He is my oldest traced ancestor, born in the eighteenth century. Dewi Lewis has done a great deal of research on this line, his wife being a Havard cousin of mine. Knoyle is a very rare name, and so he probably originated in Knoyle in Wiltshire, the orignal seat of the Seymour Dukes of Somerset and birthplace of Sir Christopher Wren. Jane Syemour was Henry VIII Tudor’s third wife, and this is the 500’th anniversary of the accession of Henry VIII. I think that his father, Henry Tudor, was a better king. They are descended form the great Prince Rhys ap Gruffydd, whose golden lion is the main element of my arms.
