Family Tree of Evans of Glyneithrym June 4th 2009

by

This is my known family tree compiled with the generous help of Mr Dewi Lewis and Mr Stuart Davies. In the direct paternal line it is known only to my great grandfather Edward Evans, probably of Cleirwy in Powys, born probably 1860. A paternal branch can be traced back to the eleventh century Norman knight Sir Reginald Aubrey, via the Portrey-Gough and Aubrey Gentry of Ystradgynlais in the Swansea Valley. A maternal line can be traced back to the eleventh century Norman knight Sir Walter Havard. Both were knights of Bernard de Neufmarche en Lions (Bernard Newmarch), second cousin of William 1st. There are Welsh, Cambrian Norman, Norse and English lines. The Norse line is the Newlands line of Penfro (Pembroke), and the two English lines are from David Potter of Worth in Sussex (born 1829) and Thomas Knoyle, born 1773, probably of Knoyle in Wiltshire.
