Keeping the Welsh language alive

This is very important to me, and I will devoting time to improving my knowledge of this great classical language. I urge all cultured people interested in the language to do the same, and to make sure that their children learn the language. It is protected by EEC laws and a tertiary outlet in the Welsh medium is very urgently needed. At present less than 5% of the staff of the so called “University of Wales” are able to speak or read the language. I have plenty of personal experience of staff in that venerable establishment being openly hostile to it. In great contrast the Welsh medium Eisteddfod is among the most successful of cultural events in Europe, and takes place wholly in the Welsh language.
